The USA Dream Team is here!
We’ve had a terrific evening meeting the heroes will go the extra mile – and some – on our annual fundraising bike ride in September, DC2NYC in association with @greencentral.co.uk.
Today was the first opportunity we had to get the riders and the sponsors together to find out more about each other and the exciting adventure that awaits.
The riders were also presented with their official DC2NYC kit and apparel by our Head of Wellbeing Programmes – and #rugbyleague legend – Keith Senior, a RL Cares ride veteran who cycled with us from Niagara Falls to New York City three years ago.
This time we’re cycling from the US capital Washington DC to Central Park in the heart of Manhattan island, a 400-mile six-day route that will take the riders on an epic tour along America’s eastern seaboard.
Sadly, two of this year’s riders, Adrian Morley and Paul Sculthorpe MBE, couldn’t make the presentation event due to prior commitments but the RL Hall of Fame inductees will both be on the starting line when the ride sets off from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on Sunday September 7.
The 17 riders taking part in DC2NYC are Capucine Auger, James Battersby, James Elston, Neil Farrow, Kevin Ferriby, Phil Gildon, Nathan Groom, Nick Groom, Dr David Graham, John Ledger, Shaun Lunt, Adrian Morley, Mike Morris, James Rothwell, Paul Sculthorpe MBE, Steve Smethurst and Helen Teasdale.
The events sponsors and partners are Green Central, @mattioliwoods, @howorthairtechnology , OddBalls , Bartlett Group UK Red Security & Fire Systems, Mosaic Chambers Group and Oxen Sports.
If you would like to sponsor any of the riders, please visit the ride's dedicated Justgiving page.
