Player wellbeing takes centre stage in five-day Sydney visit

Rugby League Cares Director of Wellbeing Steve McCormack has just returned from a whistle-stop trip to Australia for a busy schedule of meetings and club visits.

During his five-day trip, Steve met representatives from the NRL and RL Players Association for high levels talks about new structures for wellbeing in the game.

He also called in to meet coaches, staff and the CEOs at South Sydney, Manly, Canterbury Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels to discuss player wellbeing, culture, transition, connectivity, community engagement, education and leadership in both Super League and the NRL.

The aim of these meetings was to ensure UK players – both men and women - joining Australian clubs are well looked after.

Steve updated club officials and NRL staff about the evolving wellbeing structures in the UK, enabling them to share details with players heading to England and France.

The trip also provided opportunities for Steve to catch up with some the English players in the NRL.
